The Pride of Birmingham Awards, in association with Virgin Trains, is back and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever with one aim – to celebrate the unsung heroes of our community.
TV Presenter and Broadcaster Gaby Roslin will once again be hosting this diverse evening of song, dance, music and awards at the Town Hall and she will be joined by a host of celebrities who are eager to present those all important trophies.
Amongst others we have joining us, Peaky Blinders Creator Steve Knight, Wizzard’s Roy Wood, Slade’s Noddy Holder, Black Sabbath’s Toni Iommi, Horrible Histories Actress Martha How Douglas, Aston Villa legend Ian Taylor and Commonwealth medallist Jodie Stimpson.
As we recognise inspirational heroes, volunteers and fundraisers of all ages, the Jaguar Land Rover Brass Band will take to the stage along with Aston Performing Arts (as you’ve never seen them before) and our very own home-grown star, Britain’s Got Talent Finalist Connie Talbot to entertain you throughout the night.
The Pride of Birmingham Awards supports the Birmingham Children’s Hospital which provides tailored care for young people of all ages. We are proud to have the opportunity to help the continued treatment of children and a 10% donation from every ticket sold will be given to the hospital. / 2015


Britain's Got Talent star lights up Dudley

DOZENS of people braved the rain to see Britain's Got Talent star Connie Talbot switch on Dudley's Christmas lights. The festive event on Saturday (December 10) saw the town's tree lit up by the Black Country singer, who shot to fame in 2007 during the first series of the TV talent show. The 15-year-old arrived on a sleigh with Father Christmas, courtesy of the Tipton Community Group, before performing Adele's hit When We Were Young, Life on Mars by David Bowie and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree and Let it Snow,for crowds in Stone Street Square.
Before the switch on, there was plenty to get shoppers in the Christmas spirit, as the square was packed with 24 craft stalls, a birds of prey display, face-painters, a vintage musical organ, Dudley Zoo animals, glass blowing and traditional food sellers. People could also buy wish tags to hang on the town’s tree in memory of loved ones. The money raised from the sale of the tags will be donated to White House Cancer Support. In addition to entertainment from Connie, there were also performances from choirs, gospel singers and poets and music from Black Country Radio. Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Mohammed Hanif said: “This was a fantastic Christmas event that came about because of the hard work and dedication of the local community and traders.
“I would like to take this chance to wish everyone in Dudley a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”


 

TV COMEBACK

Connie Talbot looked all grown up as she made her first television appearance in nine years. The 15-year-old, who made headlines when she appeared on Britain's Got Talent at just six years old, appeared on Loose Women to promote her seventh album, Matters to Me. 

Wearing a sixties style patchwork skirt and a pale pink polo neck with her long blonde hair in waves, the 15-year-old performed her latest single on the show, which was met with overwhelming approval by viewers. One viewer posted on Twitter: "Simply put, it's the voice that captured our hearts & continues to do so :)" while another wrote: "Connie Talbot sounds even more amazing now. Can't believe it has been nine years ago she was on BGT. A future star in the making."

Connie revealed what she thought about Simon Cowell when she appeared on the show, telling the panel that he was "sweet" to her. She said: "You would have thought Simon would be scary but he was sweet."
